June 27, 2013 - PRLog -- Kay Morris-Robertson had it all in 2007: a high-paying job, the love of her life, and the world at her fingertips. But after her young husband, to whom she’d been married for only six months, died suddenly and unexpectedly of a heart attack, her world was turned upside down. Dealing with the trauma of this tragedy in her life proved to be an arduous task, and was made even more so after she was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

But then she found an unexpected solace in travel. Reluctant to sit at home, one day Morris-Robertson set out to launch a spontaneous road-trip that would last three years. Buying an RV that would end up bedecked with paraphernalia from each destination, she devised a plan to travel the lesser-known towns of the United States. But this was no ordinary road-trip. She decided on three rules that would set her journey apart: she would visit each town alphabetically, she would only visit non-major cities, and she would let America decide on each destination. Putting her faith in her voters, Morris-Robertson would travel to each highest voted town alphabetically—even if it was 3,000 miles in the opposite direction! The chronicle of these small, fascinating towns is  her new book, A to Zee Across America.

“When you are living in a nightmare, sometimes you have no choice but to keep going,” says Morris-Robertson. “I wanted to keep going with my life and that is what this journey was about. I wrote the book for John and for charities; to take a piece of the wonderful places that I went and put it into funding for people that needed medical and emotional help.”

Through each non-major city in the United States, Morris-Robertson has painstakingly taken note of everything that she experienced, creating a guide for a special kind of traveler. Any person looking for a special low-key tour of the lesser known United States or even a self-healing travel of their own can enjoy the things that she covers in each town, including:

·      Places of interest including museums and shopping

·      Town history and current impressions of the people

·      Hiking and camping ideas

·      The best spots for photography enthusiasts

·      An “Only in America” section that cites what makes the town unique

Proceeds from the books go to charities that include Our House Los Angeles, which provides grief support for those who have lost someone, and Cardiac Risk in the Young, a United Kingdom charity that raises heart health awareness and support. Kay Morris-Robertson is still traveling and has plans to create an A to Zee Across England in the future.

Kay Morris-Robertson was born in England and has been an avid traveler through most of her life. Following the tragic death of her husband, she acquired PTSD and decided to take her health into her own hands by traveling the United States. She is currently still on the road a good amount of the time and enjoys meeting new friends every place she goes.
