Condé Nast Traveler (US) names Andy Booth of ABOUTAsia as a Top Travel Specialist

Aug. 1, 2013 - PRLog -- Cambodia-based ABOUTAsia's  founder, Andy Booth, has been named as a Top Travel Specialist (for Cambodia) by Condé Nast Traveler. In a list compiled by the magazine’s consumer news editor, Wendy Perrin, 146 Top Travel Specialists from around the world will appear in the magazine’s August edition, on sale later on this month.

Wendy Perrin of Condé Nast Traveler says of the list:

“The custom trip designers collected here represent the best blend of destination knowledge, insider connections, consumer advocacy, and value for your dollar that I've found in more than two decades of scrutinizing the travel industry for this magazine. They have the expertise and clout to get you the rooms with the best views and the savviest English-speaking guides, not to mention VIP perks. They have almost all been road-tested by Condé Nast Traveler readers, editors, or both. Of the more than 10,000 travel agents and tour operators who have tried to break onto this list since its inception 14 years ago, only a tiny fraction have made the grade—this year, 146 specialists. Getting into this group is, statistically speaking, tougher than getting into Harvard.”

ABOUTAsia offers tours around the Angkor region that include little-known archaeological sites and aims to impart historical gems of information. Enhancing any Angkor travel experience is extensive research-based knowledge that identifies the best light conditions for photography and the optimum times for touring sites without the crowds. Going beyond the sites, clients can, for example, kayak through a flooded forest followed by lunch in a riverside home or sip cocktails at sunset onboard a boat on an ancient Angkorian waterway.

ABOUTAsia Travel is non-profit – all funds go to ABOUTAsia Schools, which supports the education of around 53,000 school children.

Andy Booth says:
“An endorsement from such an established and well-respected publication is very exciting and should be viewed with pride by the whole team at ABOUTAsia Travel and Schools.  We have created a laboratory of new ideas through our dedicated research programmes with daily discussions of new experiences to ensure our guests stay two steps ahead of the tourist crowds.  Inspiration for the day-to-day effort is provided by a simple commitment to define new standards in travel advice and services, never settling for good enough.”

Launching for the beginning of high season (October) is a new ‘Countryside Senses’ journey incorporating the Western Baray, the village of Phum Tnout and a visit to ABOUTAsia’s new country house. The tour can be tailored to last from two hours to an extended half-day and can incorporate cycling routes and a private boat ride.  Also new are two elegantly-renovated boats for daytime and overnight boat trips on Tonle Sap Lake. Overnight trips will provide unique opportunities for photographers to catch the best light; there will be a masseur onboard and the boats will stop at tiny island villages and bird biospheres.
