BURNS HARBOR, Ind. - Aug. 5, 2013 - PRLog -- The 2015 Ford Mustang will not just be any ordinary Mustang model. When the vehicle is released sometime next year, it will be the 50th anniversary of one of the most recognizable muscle cars on the car market. What is not known yet is exactly when we will see this living legend on the road. Speculation has ranged from the Detroit Auto Show in January 2014 to the New York Auto Show in April 2014. If it debuts at the New York Auto Show, it’ll be 50 years to the month since its original premiere. Car industry sources have said that approximately 1,000 2015 models will be released to help celebrate the Mustang’s 50th birthday.

For the first time, Ford has shown global aspirations for the Mustang as the car company has said that it is being designed to cater to European car buyers. The upcoming edition is expected to offer a design that is lower and sleeker, with both the engine and suspension towers being positioned lower. It has also been mentioned that the next-generation Ford Mustang will weigh less than its predecessors.

Designer Mark West says that despite the need to drop weight on the 2015 Mustang in order to be able to add markets such as Europe and Asia, it’s important not to “deviate too far from its Mustang roots.” This “Americanism” is also what cultures in Europe and Asia want in the Mustang’s design.

Ford has done a good job of keeping details of the 50th anniversary Mustang under wraps. Jack Telnack, a former global design boss at Ford Motor Company, said that the car “looks great.” Telnack also added that consumers will, without question, be able to tell that the car is undeniably a Mustang.
