By: Sociercise, LLC Over 47,000 servicemen and women have been injured in the recent military conflicts. In addition to the physical wounds, it is estimated as many as 400,000 service members live with the invisible wounds of war including combat-related stress, major depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Another 320,000 are believed to have experienced a traumatic brain injury while on deployment. WWP’s 18 programs and services are uniquely structured to nurture the mind and body, and encourage economic empowerment and engagement. The Warrior Appreciation Race is a multi-day virtual event beginning on September 20th that uses the Sociercise iPhone app and web platform to allow participants from any location to raise money and track their running or walking distance. When registration opens on September 3rd participants will be able to begin collecting pledges using the Sociercise fun and fair pledge process which includes pledges per mile, minimum donation amounts, and maximum donation amounts. Participants can run anytime, anywhere, and as far and often as they wish during the multi-day racing period. Bobby Valentine, co-founder of Sociercise says "We are excited to host this event in support of Wounded Warrior Project. They do an amazing job by helping injured military personnel adjust to life at home. These warriors didn't run when their country called them and we are hopeful that many people will get out and run or walk in support of these heroes."
