By: Republic Services To encourage youth to join the Girl Scouts and help make our world a better place, Republic Services of Oxnard will host a membership drive for the Girl Scouts combined with a south Oxnard neighborhood outreach walk. This event will be on Saturday, Sept. 7, from 9 – 11 a.m. starting at the Del Norte Regional Recycling and Transfer Station, located at 111 S. Del Norte Blvd. in Oxnard. In addition to the Girl Scouts educational outreach, Republic Services of Oxnard and the Girl Scouts are in the process of launching a Green Team patch program in Ventura County. The patch will commemorate the participation and efforts by our county’s youth in addressing local environment issues. “The collaboration with the Girl Scouts allows our youth to learn about important green practices and to get them actively involved in making our community a better place to live in,” said Gus Sanchez, operations manager for Republic Services of Oxnard. “With the Girl Scouts involvement, we can help bring the green waste contamination level down even lower. We enjoy seeing our youth educate the community about reducing, reusing, recycling and composting as they lead the way into the future.” Republic Services works in conjunction with the City of Oxnard. For more information, contact Operations Manager Gus Sanchez at 805-278-8228. To register for the event, visit www.girlscoutsccc.org/ End
