Follow on Google News | Nottingham nightspot encourages partygoers to put something back this ChristmasNottingham’s leading nightspot and acclaimed restaurant is branching out this Christmas – helping the environment by planting a tree for every guest booked for their packed festive programme.
By: Empica Ltd Marketing manager Rebecca Deaville said both venues on Upper Parliament Street and Wollaton Street had jumped at the chance to support the global campaign – which provides thousands of trees to some of the world’s poorest communities. She said: “In return for booking a Christmas party at Alea we will donate a single tree on behalf of each of the guests attending the festivities. “Alea and Marco Pierre White restaurant are very proud to be associated with such a socially aware organisation and excited to offer customers the opportunity to enjoy a Carbon Free Christmas without missing out on all the turkey and tinsel.” The Green Earth Appeal is one of only 61 worldwide partners of the United Nations Environment Programme. It works through a global network of charities and non-Government organisations providing trees to help rebuild Third World environments. Rebecca said: “By removing the need for aid and empowering communities, the Green Earth Appeal gives villages and those who live there a sustainable lifestyle at the same time as offsetting tonnes of carbon from the environment.” All companies that book a Christmas party at Alea or the Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill will receive a certificate to confirm the number of trees planted on their behalf. They will also have a unique landing page on the Green Earth appeal website promoting their participation in a Carbon Free Christmas. Rebecca said: “Partygoers can enjoy our fabulous entertainment packages but still have a positive impact on the planet over the Christmas period, safe in the knowledge that they have enhanced a life less fortunate than theirs.” Alea’s Christmas programme includes a variety of entertainment at the Casino Suite with tribute acts including Adele, Grease, Dirty Dancing, Antony Edwards as Michael Jackson, Elton John and the Royal Blues Brothers. Christmas party night packages run on Wednesday and Thursday nights throughout December and include three-course festive meal in the casino suite, live entertainment, bar and disco until 2am along with the opportunity to learn the arts of American roulette and blackjack tuition.
