Renowned Children's Book Authors/Illustrators Chalk and Jones Go With Foreword Literary

SAN FRANCISCO - Sept. 18, 2013 - PRLog -- September 18, 2013—San Francisco, CA—Distinguished kidlit and young adult author/illustrator team, Gary Chalk and Allan Frewin Jones, have signed with hybrid literary management company Foreword Literary for all future individual and collaborative projects. Partner and co-founder Pam van Hylckama Vlieg will handle their account.

Van Hylckama Vlieg said, “I’ve been a major fan of both Allan and Gary for a long time. The Faerie Path series was one of the first YA novels I read and I fell in love with the world and characters. The Six Crowns series cemented my admiration of their writing and illustration abilities. Their collaborative ideas are high concept and thrilling.”

Chalk’s illustrations have graced books from Hachette, Random House, Greenwillow, Dorling Kindersley and Templar among others. He has also created illustrations and components for game companies such as MB Games, Rackham Miniatures and Games Workshop. Perhaps he is most famous for his illustrations of animal characters in the beloved Redwall series of children’s books.

According to Chalk, the decision to work with Van Hylckama Vlieg was an easy one. “I first ran into Pam on Twitter, where I was at once attracted by her sense of humour and her high class Katy Perry impersonations. ‘Just how much talent can one frail body contain?’ I asked myself. The answer is, of course, simply gallons.

“We went on swapping nonsense like this for months, but I was genuinely impressed. After looking at Pam’s blog I could see that she really cares about books and knows what she’s talking about. A sense of humour is no bad thing to have in the publishing business either.

“It was wonderful to meet her in person, where her drive and energy came across as much in real life, as it did on the Internet. I value enthusiasm highly, so it didn’t take me more than a few minutes to decide that she was the woman to represent me.  I’m really looking forward to our working together on some exciting kid’s projects!”

Allan Frewin Jones, under his own name plus a multitude of pen names, has had nearly 100 books published in his long career, plus many short stories. Most famous perhaps for his HarperCollins’ The Faerie Path series, he also wrote series entitled The Six Crowns, Destiny’s Path, Talisman, Special Agents, Hunter and Moon mysteries, and Stacy and Friends.
