By: Ware Malcomb Ware Malcomb was hired by Stamps.com to provide architecture and interior architecture and design services for their new Corporate Headquarters renovation project. The project included renovating two adjacent, three-story office buildings totaling 82,000 square feet. The total project size was expanded to 100,000 square feet by adding a new two-story 18,000 square foot lobby that connects the two existing buildings with new steel moment frames. The new headquarters includes a luxury lobby, glass box suspended conference rooms, an interactive cafeteria, collaborative lounge areas, fitness center and additional spaces to provide employee amenities throughout the office. Stamps.com’s new creative office headquarters showcases an innovative, contemporary, and sleek design. The new hardscape design at the entry includes an integral water feature and handicap accessible ramp that provides a grand sense of arrival. Large expanses of a two-story curtain wall capture the space between the two existing buildings. Structural glazing was used for the stair tower and a mass wall was cast in place for the stairs to cantilever from. The main core of the existing buildings was redesigned to provide a more efficient layout of space and easy access. The project also included 60,000 square feet of office tenant improvements and a full exterior remodel of the entire building while occupied by tenants. The key goals of the project were to promote collaboration and teaming as well as capturing the natural daylight. This was achieved by creating an open floor plan, lowering the horizon line of the workstations, installing a central skylight and large sidelites at the private office and conference room facades. Spiral glass stairs were installed under the central skylight to act as sculptural element and to allow for vertical circulation. In addition, Ware Malcomb’s graphic design studio wm graphics provided interior branded graphics, signage design, and graphic design services.
