2014 Ford Fiesta ST Road Test… Fiesta Time!

The word “Fiesta” is a Spanish word that means "party", "feast" or "festival"; in other words, a good time. And that’s exactly what the 2014 Ford Fiesta ST offers… A good time, in the form of a great driving experience.

LONG ISLAND, N.Y. - Oct. 8, 2013 - PRLog -- The 2014 Fiesta ST is Ford’s newest contribution to the world of hot hatches. Trivia: ST stands for Sport Technologies, Ford’s global performance division.

A new high-output variant of the award-winning 1.6-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost (turbocharged) engine propels Fiesta ST with an anticipated 197 horsepower and 202 lb.-ft. of torque. The lightweight all-aluminum engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission, meaning you’ll need both feet and both hands to drive. More cars should be like this… Put down your cell phones and drive!

Fiesta ST may be born with racing DNA, but there’s no price for that performance at the pump. Available exclusively as a five-door hatchback in North America and with a six-speed manual transmission, Fiesta ST can achieve 26 mpg city, 35 mpg highway and 29 mpg combined.

In our week with the Fiesta, we never came close to needing to look for a gas station.  We drove it a lot, and returned it to Ford with only ¼ tank of gasoline burned off. Can’t remember the last time we did that. Oh right, when we had the C-Max, but that was a hybrid, and a lot less fun to drive than the Fiesta.

The Fiesta ST rides on sporty 17-inch alloy wheels and tight ST-unique sport suspension. It boasts aluminum pedals, leather- and aluminum-trimmed shift knob, unique leather-wrapped ST badge steering wheel, available race-inspired RECARO® leather-trimmed front seats and special ST design elements. This is definitely a driver’s car.

Braking is crisp, aided by large four-wheel disc brakes with high-performance brake pads and ABS providing excellent stopping power.

Fiesta ST steering system features a modified steering knuckle which is designed to help increase wheel camber and quicken steering. Electric Power-Assisted Steering (EPAS) delivers light responsive steering at low speeds, and less steering assist at higher speeds for feeling of control. EPAS also includes active nibble control which uses the EPAS motor to reduce unwanted oscillations in the steering wheel.

The ST’s dynamic racing silhouette mirrors the styling of the Fiesta World Rally Championship competition car, with wide wheel arches, dual chrome exhaust tips, center airfoil and unique diffuser in black, body-color side rocker moldings, body-color front and rear fascia lower extensions, and high-mounted rear spoiler.

New 6.5-inch customizable color-coded Touch-Screen Display, included with SYNC® with MyFord Touch®, features easy-to-use controls, available 3-D Navigation System, and Wallpaper that can be personalized.

The high-performance exhaust system with Sound Symposer Box is designed to enrich the natural sounds of the vehicle, by capturing engine-generated frequencies from the intake system and transmitting them to the passenger compartment.

The all-new Fiesta ST starts at $22,195, making it a party you cannot afford to miss.
