Are We Scammed By Beef Industry Labeling Regulations?

NORTHVILLE, Mich. - Oct. 14, 2013 - PRLog -- Remember the popular, 1984 Wendy’s commercial with the three little old ladies looking for the beef under a massive hamburger bun? The company had struggled in the highly competitive fast-food market until Clara Peller’s phrase, “Where’s the Beef” became one of the top ten slogans of the 20^th century (according to Advertising Age).  That wildly popular commercial would be just as appropriate if shown today. But this time the little old lady in the commercial would have to ask, “Where’s the Grass-Fed Beef?” The labeling of how cattle are processed is at best confusing! Are you eating grain fed beef? Or is it grass fed only until the last 3 weeks of its life? Is it organic, or antibiotic-free? Is pasture-raised the same thing as grass-fed? What you think you bought at the meat market may not be what it really is.

Why is grass fed beef so much better for your health than grain fed beef? The following are just a few items from a very long list of benefits:

Grass fed beef :

-Has 2 to 5 times more Omega-3s (Omega-3s reduce joint pain, improve healthy skin, nails and hair, reduce inflammation.)

-Is a leaner choice of beef

-Has 2 to 3 times more CLA

-Has 4 times the Vitamin A & E

-Has more minerals such as zinc, iron, phosphorus, potassium, sodium

-Increases "testosterone" because it contains healthy cholesterol

Even if the label says "grass fed," be wary! Make sure it says USDA Grass Fed because if it does not state that on the label then the farmers send the cattle off to feedlots during the last month of their lives where they are fed grains.
