Toddler and Child Day at the Dentist

Oct. 23, 2013 - PRLog -- For over two years now Toddler and Child Day at the Dentist has been run by two Sault Ste Marie dentists and dental team at Northern Dental Care. This program was started back in 2006 in Toronto and brought to Sault Ste Marie in 2011. Since this time Northern Dental Care has seen hundreds of children in this volunteer run dental program.

Each child is introduced to dentistry in a fun and positive way at their own comfort level and speed. Dentistry should be without unknowns that is why we use the tell-show-do method of introducing all the equipment and materials, this way a child learns what each thing is or does without fear. The dental team at Northern Dental Care is dedicated to each child having a postive and fun experience every time they visit our office. All of dental equipment and materials have child-friendly names such as Mr.Slurpy, Mr.Sunshine and Mr.Tickler. We believe that if children have ongoing positive experiences they will not come to fear dentistry as many of the older generations have. Dentistry is now preventative based and we teach/treat based on that.
