ATLANTA - Oct. 25, 2013 - PRLog -- RolePages.com is a multimedia interactive social network, where members use a variety of communication tools to create collaborative stories. They have now added a new dimension to this process, incorporating a video system that has users interacting with one another through clips shot of themselves wearing various costumes.

For the full details of this interactive transmedia storytelling experience you can visit the initial blog: http://www.rolepages.com/profiles/blogs/taking-back-our-city-a-video-roleplaying-experiment

The process began on the afternoon of Thursday October 24th, 2013, when the sites creator Joseph Gambit posted a Facebook message positing the possibility of doing a post and reply style roleplay, using video clips uploaded to a blog as comments.

When the idea started to buzz, he immediately pulled out his phone and shot the opening video. This video featured the creator playing a character named Tye Sampson, calling out to heroes across the world for assistance in taking back a magical city from its factional overlords.

“The first video took literally 5 minutes to make, and then another ten to upload to youtube. It all happened from my iPhone without any editing or reshoots”

This first video got an immediate response. Within the first two hours a half dozen people had posted response videos of their own. Within 24 hours there were over 40 response videos, with more pouring in. These featured a variety of characters, some played by people, others using voices, voice editing, and images to evoke their characters.

Response videos continue to pour in to the initial blog, and now there are plans to start twisting the plot, setting up multiple platforms for video post and response stories to start happening across the site. Video is also being integrated into other systems such as forums, and the chat rooms.

“We’re really excited about this. I’ve always tried to push the boundaries of new media storytelling with RolePages, and I feel like this is a great step in the right direction”
