The 2013 winner was Carly Rae Jepsen for her hit song Call Me Maybe. Tesolin was also nominated for Top 40 Breakthrough Artist of the Year and AC Breakthrough Artist of the Year. Aria Tesolin’s radio hit The Key has attracted wide mainstream audience appeal. A category nomination in Top 40 is a rare event for any pop classical singer. Lyrics and music for The Key were solely composed by Tesolin. The Key is the lead single from Tesolin’s album Ascension released in April 2013, produced by Douglas Romanow. In September 2013, The Key soared to #5 on the Hot 100 Singles Chart published by New Music Weekly alongside Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars, Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry. The Key also reached #9 on Top 40 and #8 on AC, making Aria Tesolin the new #1 Indie artist in Top 40 and #2 in AC, a position formerly held by Fun in Top 40, and Mumford & Sons in AC.
