WALNUT, Calif. - Jan. 30, 2014 - PRLog -- SolidWorks is a 3D mechanical Computer Aided Design (CAD) program. It is used by engineers and designers across the world to create, design, and simulate products. SolidWorks hosts an annual event, the SolidWorks World, which is a gathering of educators, manufacturers, designers, engineers, and industry leaders to share developments and new innovations within the fields.

Max Lizarraga and Gerry Miranda were invited to guest speak on their Certified SolidWorks  Associate (CSWA) Certification program for Mt. Sac students. The CSWA is an internationally recognized certification for Computer Aided Design (CAD) professionals, which demonstrate the ability of its recipients to make complex parts and assemblies.

"We offer the CSWA certification to our students because Industry confirms that our students are prepared for the world of work with manufacturing, engineering, and related fields," said Engineering Design Technology Professor, Max Lizarraga. "Once our students receive this certification, their job opportunities increase dramatically."

Max Lizarraga and Gerry Miranda discussed the importance of the students' success with the CSWA certification, their careers, and their advancement in life. A video featuring the students from the Engineering Design Technology department was also shown. The students discuss how the lives have changed as a result of the Engineering Design Technology program at Mt. Sac and the CSWA certificate.

"We've had over 400 students go through our Engineering Design Technology program since 2006. In 2009, we began proctoring CSWA certificates to our students," said Engineering Design Technology Professor Gerry Miranda.

On stage at the conference, the SolidWorks Corporation awarded Mt. Sac the Certified SolidWorks Professional exam because of their program's success. This exam will be given to the students for them to reach the level of their career.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM:

The Engineering Design Technology program at Mt. Sac is a hands-on and emphasizes both portfolio and product fabrication for a career in Manufacturing and Design.

It is an accelerated four semester program. Students complete their program requirements by taking three classes a semester. Students in the program are guaranteed enrollment in all four semesters. Students earn three technical certificates while completing the program.
