A Dog’s Life Photography Selected for Small Business Spotlight Award in District 6

PHOENIX - March 3, 2014 - PRLog -- Susan Schmitz’s A Dog’s Life Photography has been selected for the Small Business Spotlight Award in Phoenix's District 6. The Scottsdale business was chosen based on their animal rescue photo program which assists local organizations in finding homes for abused and displaced pets.

According to District Representative Kyle Souza on behalf of Congressman David Schweikert (AZ-06), “The Small Business Spotlight Award program was started in February of 2014 in order to give back to hard working small business owners dedicated to making a positive difference in Arizona’s 6^th District.”

A Dog’s Life Photography is based out of Schmitz’s Photo Fusion Studio, a cooperative of leading photographers located in Old Scottsdale. A portion of the proceeds from their licensed pet images funds the program which photographs animals for adoption 2-3 days per week. Schmitz says she honored to be recognized for her program and is thankful to Congressman Schweikert’s office for the award. “I believe this will bring more awareness to our program and help save more lives.”

While she says it’s difficult to arrive at a specific number, Schmitz estimates that their photos have assisted in helping place over 300 at-risk animals into new homes. The program’s pet images are often used on rescue group websites, adoption ads and in fundraising.

District Rep. Souza says that the criteria for the Spotlight Award program is relatively simple and based on a variety of factors including a small business’s “record for expansion and creating jobs, operation in the district for a significant number of years and for using their resources to give back to the community.”

A Dog’s Life Photography was voted “Best Pet Photography” in 2012 by Phoenix Magazine. In October of 2013, Schmitz was awarded a Creative Grant in the Shutterstock International Stories contest for her rescue photo program.
