Military Kids Uncover the Notorious Evil Cyber Bully in a New Anti-Bully Book: Military Bratz

Being the new kid in class is often a harrowing experience for children of military families. Not only do they have to cope with frequent moves and making new friends, but they also experience being the targets of bullies. LaTangela Newsome, best known for her co-starring role on Nickelodeon's hit show "Taina" has co-written a children's book with her mother, Gwendolyn, called "The Military Bratz".

VAIL, Colo. - March 10, 2014 - PRLog -- Newsome, the child of an Air Force family herself, said "The armed forces are very special to us. The parents are often honored and remembered and we thought it was a good time to honor the kids of these heroes, while teaching an invaluable lesson." Her own experience, especially in middle and high school, taught her to use acts of kindness and a positive attitude to combat the effects of bullying.

Newsome's role as Maritza on "Taina", also provided insight into the other side of bullying. She played the "mean girl" character who, despite her best attempts, ended up the butt of her own jokes. This experience highlights the other side of bullying, the side of the aggressor and the futility of such behavior.

Now, LaTangela wants to use the book as a tool to inspire children to use acts of kindness and positive attitudes to combat the effects of bullying. Mother and daughter will be in Vail, CO to attend the 2014 Film Festival. While in Colorado, the two plan to visit schools and military bases to promote the upcoming book and talk to kids about ways to deal with bullying.

About the Book

Set on a Military base in Frankfurt, Germany, the Military Bratz features a band of best friends who, in the course of a grand scheme to launch their musical careers through a charity fund raising event, uncover the legendary virus, "Cyber-bully". The villain presents himself over the "Bratz Chat" online community by spreading negativity. The book is aimed at children ages four to nine and uses a creative plot to engage the reader, while teaching a lesson on bullying.  The book is scheduled for release in Summer, 2014.
