Launching in DC in June, First-Ever Millennial Week Now Accepting Nominations for Millennial Awards

By: Millennial Week DC

WASHINGTON - March 10, 2014 - PRLog -- Millennial Week DC, the first-ever conference celebrating the social, cultural, political and entrepreneurial contributions of the Millennial generation, is coming to the nation’s capital June 2-8, 2014, and is accepting nominations (http://www.millennialweek.com/nominations) for its inaugural Millennial Awards now through May 1.

The Millennial Awards Reception on June 2 will serve as the kick-off for the week-long series of panel discussions, forums and networking events, and will honor Millennials for their accomplishments in four categories—philanthropy, entrepreneurship/innovation, arts/culture, and activism. An additional individual will be named “Millennial of the Year,” determined by a panel of local change makers and experts.

“Millennials have been making headlines for years now for their impact on everything from business to politics to pop culture and everything in between,” said Millennial Week DC Founder Natalie Moss. “We felt it was time to recognize and celebrate Millennials’ contributions.”

Other highlights include a business pitch competition, a food and wine tasting featuring Millennial chefs, and a community service initiative benefiting the Washington, DC area.

Now the largest and most diverse generation in the United States, Millennials have flocked to Washington in recent years: a recent Brookings study identified DC as the number one destination nationwide for Millennials. Here, Millennials gross nearly twice the national average in annual income, and enjoy far greater gender parity in pay. And they do so while working for causes they care about—half of DC’s millennial population works for a not-for-profit organization.

“Washington is one of the most influential and powerful cities in the world, so it’s no surprise it’s a magnet to Millennials seeking to make waves,” added Dr. Moss. “Right now there is no better place to be a Millennial, so there’s no better place to launch Millennial Week and the Millennial Awards.”
