Miss Latin America of the World Pageant returns to Barceló Bávaro Beach Resort

PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic - April 2, 2014 - PRLog -- Barceló Hotels & Resorts brings back the Miss Latin America of the World Pageant to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic on August 24 through September 7, 2014 in co-production with Organizacion Miss America Latina, Inc. Over 50 delegates of Latina heritage from around the world will be guests of the spectacular Barceló Bávaro Beach Resort during the pageant competition that culminates with a glamorous and entertainment-filled show the evening of September 6th at the resort’s Gran Teatro Bávaro.

Miss Latin America of the World is the first pageant established in the world exclusively for Latinas and this year will see its 30th titleholder crowned since being founded in Miami, Florida back in 1981. “We are very happy to be returning to Punta Cana to celebrate two important occasions for us,” said Pageant President and Founder Acirema Alayeto. “Not only is this our 30th edition, but it is also our 15th co-production with Barceló Hotels & Resorts and it is fitting that it happen here, where the visionary Barceló brothers, Sebastian and Gabriel, started the international expansion of Barceló Hotels & Resorts with the opening of Barceló Bávaro Beach Resort in 1985,” added Ms. Alayeto. The Barceló hotel chain now operates more than 140 hotels in 17 countries.

A series of activities comprises the two-week-long event leading up to the grand finale and crowning of Miss Latin America of the World 2014 by her predecessor Julia Guerra of Brazil. Rehearsals, preliminary rounds of competitions in evening gown, swimsuit and personal interviews, filming and photo sessions, social activities and recreation are all on the agenda for the international beauty delegates at this popular all-inclusive resort located on one of the top 10 beaches in the world. Many of these activities are meant to also be enjoyed by all of the resort guests, along with the many features and amenities offered by the Barceló Bávaro Beach Resort.

As a prelude to the selection of Miss Latin America of the World, the 2014 Miss U.S. Latina Pageant will be held on August 30th with delegates from all over the United States. The winner of this national competition will represent the Latin/Hispanic population of the USA at the world finals, as has been done since 1983. Ashley Garner of El Paso, Texas will be present to crown her successor.

This will be the seventh time that Miss Latin America of the World takes place in Punta Cana since its first time in 2001 at the Barceló Bávaro Convention Center. That year the representative of the Dominican Republic was the winner. The pageant returned in 2004 and then again four more times from 2008 to 2011.
