MIAMI - March 6, 2015 - PRLog -- Contestants with Latina ancestry chosen in affiliate state competitions across the country will arrive in the beautiful location known as the Mexican Caribbean on August 30th for a week-long schedule of activities culminating with the coronation of Miss U.S. Latina 2015 on Saturday, September 5th at the Palenque Theater of the Barceló Maya Beach Resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico.

Latinas between the ages of 18 and 27 are showcased in a national competition that celebrates beauty and culture, and looks for role models in their winners, as found with current titleholder Karla Ferrari. The Venezuelan-born Miss Ferrari lives in Oklahoma City and has a Masters in Leadership and Management from the University of Oklahoma. She is fluent in both the English and Spanish languages and active in several volunteer organizations, including Star Foundation and Oye Help Me.

Once again, Barcelo Hotels and Resorts, home to Miss Latin America Pageants since 2000, will host the 2015 Miss U.S. Latina Pageant, whose winner advances in representation of the USA to the Miss Latin America of the World competition. The annual event returns to the Barcelo Maya Beach Resort for the fifth time since it was first hosted there twelve years ago in 2003.

Miami-based Organización Miss America Latina Inc. produces the Miss U.S. Latina™ Pageant, as well as the Miss Latin America® of the World Pageant. Over the years, the Miss U.S. Latina Pageant has been hosted by various Latin American countries aside from Mexico since its founding in Miami in 1983, among these Costa Rica, Bolivia, Argentina, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. Mexico has hosted the pageant a total of five times prior to this year, once in Hermosillo, Sonora in 1989 and the other four in 2003, 2005, 2012 and 2013 in Riviera Maya.

Through its Miss U.S. Latina program, the pageant organization has been fostering cultural awareness and stronger ties between the U.S. and Latin America.
