Pooler Elementary Shoe Drive Raises Money/Shoes

SAVANNAH, Ga. - April 9, 2014 - PRLog -- The month of March marked Pooler Elementary School's first Gently Used Shoe Drive with Atlantic Foot & Ankle Specialists. With the help of school nurse Marla Danis and Principle Elijah West the school was able to collect 351 pairs of gently used shoes for both children and adults. For additional motivation teachers promised the class who collected the most shoes a pizza party.

For each pair of shoes collected Atlantic Foot & Ankle Specialists donated $1 to Pooler Elementary School. All shoes donated went to the Interfaith Hospitality Network which helps move families from homelessness to self-sufficiency.

Atlantic Foot & Ankle Specialists has collected over 3000 pairs of gently used shoes with their "Keeping The Community on Their Feet" program over the past 4 years, all of which have been donated to local charities throughout the Lowcountry.

Donated shoes have been collected at Atlantic Foot & Ankle Specialists offices and with similar school shoe drives in the past, as well as with the help of local running shoe store Fleet Feet, in Savannah.
