Evan Guthrie Law Firm Does Estate Planning And Wills To Seniors In Awendaw, SC

April 27, 2014 - PRLog -- Attorney Evan Guthrie of the Evan Guthrie Law Firm in Charleston, South Carolina helps to provide wills and estate planning for seniors at the Awendaw Senior Center in Awendaw, SC on Saturday November 2^nd 2014. The event was held by the Center for Heirs Property Preservation that has a mission of helping those in the process and aiding in the prevention of heirs property from occurring. The event was a wills clinic that sought those in the Charleston, SC area and Lowcountry community that may be especially vulnerable to having long held family property become heirs property. Heirs property occurs when land is not properly probated when an original title owner passes away and remains in the family through successive generations creating a difficult and often times unclear title situation that can be complicated and difficult to sort out.

Attorney Evan Guthrie and other Charleston, SC area lawyers and law students volunteered their time and skills for this Saturday event just north of Mt. Pleasant, SC. Mr. Guthrie was joined at the wills clinic by his law clerk Sarah Cielinski, who helped draft the wills and interview the testators during the event. The participants in the clinic signed up ahead of time to take part and were scheduled for an appointment with an attorney. Those that had wills drafted for them got to take home fully executed documents that were legally binding including a will and healthcare power of attorney. Attorney Guthrie helped four participants get their wills and estate planning done during the event.

Mr. Guthrie has assisted in many events for the Heirs Property Preservation including many wills clinics. Attorney Guthrie primarily focuses his practice in the area of estate planning and is happy to be able to give back to the local community by using his legal skills. Mr. Guthrie enjoyed his time at the event and being able to help and interact with the testators, volunteers, and other attorneys and looks forward to helping with many wills clinic for the Center in the future.
