The stop-start technology contributes to fuel-saving, and the 200 sedan will be the second vehicle in the automaker’s lineup to offer it. The technology works by shutting the engine off while a vehicle is idling and then restarting it again once the driver removes his or her foot from the brake pedal.

While Chrysler has not yet announced by how much the fuel economy of the Chrysler 200 will increase once stop-start technology is available, they have said that this technology works to both increase fuel economy and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

According to Chrysler, the 2015 Chrysler 200 sedan with stop-start technology will be available this September.
