In May 2007, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) published its study with about half of violent couples reporting mutual combat, but “in nonreciprocal violent relationships, women were the perpetrators in more than 70 percent of the cases,” and men incurred significant injuries. The CDC reported that about one in four women and one in seven men have experienced severe physical violence by an intimate partner. (Cook, 2013) Add to this that according to table 4.1 (Women of Physical Abuse by their Intimate Partner) and table 4.2 (Men of Physical Abuse by their Intimate Partner) of a study done by The National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey (NISVS) in 2010 showed that the number of women who were abused over a 12 month period was 4,741,000. The number of men who were physically abused over that same 12-month period was 5,365,000 victims. http://www.barnesandnoble.com/ http://www.smashwords.com/ www.veenstrapublishing.biz End
