Brainstorm is the fourth novel in the Alan Llewellyn series which continues the premise of former U.S. Navy officer Alan Llewellyn being asked by his friend, Jim Kehoe, who also happens to be the President of the United States, to run a small and secret group of professionals to act as a “second check” on material that Kehoe gets from his intelligence providers. While reviewing an intelligence paper on Arab extremists in Europe, the main character in Brainstorm, Alan Llewellyn, has the temerity to add a footnote—based on sparse but serious collected info—suggesting that a major terrorist plot against the United States is brewing in Europe. This grabs the immediate attention of the President and results in Alan being sent to Hamburg, Germany. There, he picks up several crucial clues, including a violent confrontation in his hotel, which suggests that the terrorists are on to him. Returning to Virginia, he and his crowd start to amass the indicators that a small cabal of Arab terrorists is indeed coming to the U.S. via Cuba bent on doing serious harm. What neither side realizes is that as the terrorists and Llewellyn and his team get closer and closer together, the potential for deadly violence climbs exponentially. John McClure, president of Signalman Publishing, states, “We are honored for the opportunity to continue the Alan Llewellyn series with Brainstorm.
