Wes Walker Completes Cary Chamber of Commerce Leadership Development Program

CARY, N.C. - June 20, 2014 - PRLog -- Walker DesignBuild is proud to announce that Wes Walker has successfully completed the Cary Chamber of Commerce 2013-2014 Leadership Cary program. Participants learned about economic, social, cultural, and political aspects of the community directly from local government and business leaders.

Leadership Carysessions covered an abundance of subject matter, including leadership skills training through team building activities; details on how nonprofits serve the community; involvement in a service project with the NC Food Bank; discussions on health and medical service issues, as well as participation in a health fair;  the value of cultural arts and entertainment in the community; education issues pertaining to Wake County Public Schools, NC community colleges and the NC college system; the inner workings of media, including a tour of a news and radio station; a presentation from town, county, and state government officials to provide an in-depth look into how our government works; and guest speakers from the Cary Police Department, plus a tour of the City-County Bureau of Investigation and the Wake County Jail. Knowledge of these important community elements enables program graduates to establish professional contacts that equip them to cultivate action for future involvement in the community.
