GastroIntestinal Healthcare to Sponsor Ray Price Harley-Davidson Annual Wing Cook-Off on July 12th

RALEIGH, N.C. - July 7, 2014 - PRLog -- RALEIGH, NC – July 2, 2014 – GastroIntestinal Healthcare has announced its sponsorship of this year’s Ray Price Harley-Davidson Annual Wing Cook-Off.  The fundraising event will be held on Saturday, July 12^th from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at 1126 South Saunders Street in Raleigh.  A $5 donation provides all-you-can-eat wings with proceeds directly benefitting Duke Children’s Miracle Network and All-Star Ride for Life.

GastroIntestinal Healthcare specializes in diagnosing and treating disorders of the gastrointestinal tract including heartburn, acid reflux, and IBS (irritable bowel syndrome).  Practice administrator, Nancy Nicoll O’Neill, says that sponsoring the Wing Cook-Off was the ideal event to introduce people to GastroIntestinal Healthcare and to the importance of good digestive care.

O’Neill says that her practice will also use their sponsorship as an opportunity to educate attendees, especially men age 50 and older, on the importance of regular colon cancer screening.  Colon cancer is one of the most preventable—and curable—types of cancer when detected early.  Since the risk of colon cancer increases with age, O’Neill says that regular screening is important.

“Colon cancer is a silent disease and the second-leading cause of cancer deaths,” adds O’Neill.  “Fortunately, it's also one of the most preventable.  Because of the life-saving potential of this test, we take every opportunity to communicate its importance to our community.”
