Follow on Google News | What is Folic Acid and How It is Beneficial?Folic Acid is a water-soluble B9 vitamin that has been known to have a host of benefits for an individual’s health. Primarily it is known to help with rebuilding cells and promoting their growth through better cell division.
By: Encompass Nutrients Folic acid is not produced by the body, and therefore needs to be consumed either through a proper diet, supplementation, or both. A primary reason that both men and women need to take folic acid is because it helps to provide proper blood health. Otherwise, anemia can set in if a person does not have enough folic acid in their diet. Side effects of a person with a folic acid deficiency are being fatigued and feeling weak all the time. This is usually because the blood cells don’t have enough B9 vitamins (folic acid) to help with their division and repair. In other words, your body’s cells are lacking proper fuel to feed them so that they can provide energy to your muscles and brain through your blood. It is important for women who are pregnant or can become pregnant to make sure they are taking proper amounts of folic acid on a daily basis. Again, this has to do with making sure that a mother, or potential mother, has healthy blood. Without having the proper amounts of B9 in her system, a mother can unintentionally put her fetus at risk in the first few weeks of pregnancy. Issues such as brain and spinal development occur in a child usually in the first few weeks after conception due to lack of nutrition in the blood to develop the fetus properly. It is also important to be taking a supplement of folic acid because problems like heart disease and heart attacks can occur without it. Research has shown that heart complications and strokes can be linked to an individual who has low amounts of B9 in their systems, and usually are put on a folic acid supplement immediately after a heart attack or stroke occurs by health professionals. Older adults should also make an extra effort to consume enough folic acid in their diets. The primary reason is that it can help stave off memory loss and Alzheimer’s. Many health professionals and doctors also recommend that even if a person over the age of 55 is eating a healthy diet, that they still consume a folic acid supplement to lower the chances of these diseases and complications from happening. http://vimeo.com/ If you are interested in learning more about folic acid (http://alberthealthblog.wordpress.com/ http://www.encompassnutrients.com/ End
