By: C.E.B. Publicity As a live show, TRUETH is a combination of stand up, sketch and breakdancing, underscored by violin. Thrilled to be back after a sold-out debut, the cast includes Glazer, classical violinist Chris Woods (American Idol), break-dancer Chuck Maa (America’s Best Dance Crew), character actor Lisa Laureta (OWN) and director Adam McCabe (UCB’s Bangarang!). Glazer recently moved to Los Angeles after assistant directing Second City Chicago’s Main Stage and International Touring Company. Watching his book TRUETH unfold live in front of his eyes has been “a dream come true,” he says. “I was able to apply what I learned from Second City to my own show and create something the audience seems to really enjoy and engage in.” One of Glazer’s favorite parts of TRUETH is LOST YAK. After hanging LOST YAK flyers across Los Angeles with his phone number, Glazer received voicemails from strangers across the U.S. “I didn't expect the flyers to go viral on Instagram (#LostYak),” Glazer has been hoping to turn his books into live shows ever since he found an audience for his “weird brand of comedy” thanks to being on the Food Network. “It led to selling more copies of my books than I ever imagined, so adapting them for the stage seemed like the natural next step. Once I found a home at Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre I knew it was the perfect place to do it.” Although there will hopefully be more performances of TRUETH in the future, the September show is special because “we are being considered for some pretty big festivals,” Glazer says. “Plus we are paired up at UCB with TONYA HARDING: THE MUSICAL!, which was just on E! TV and has been getting rave reviews. Not to mention, our violinist Chris Woods just played with Iggy Azalea at the VMAs.” About TRUETH The upcoming performance of TRUETH is on September 9, 2014 at 9:30 p.m. at Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre (5919 Franklin Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90028).
