American Paper & Twine Co. Announces The Teacher of the Week for Week Two

Sept. 8, 2014 - PRLog -- “Each week the American Paper & Twine team, along with Titans Radio, review all of the entries to select our award winners. And this week’s winner exemplifies what it means to be a teacher,” said Lonnie Spivak, e-Commerce and Marketing manager for American Paper & Twine. “Kathy McLean was nominated by Jan Gustafson, and she was our clear choice to be this week’s winner.”

Jan Gustafson, the Trimble Elementary Secretary, said: “I believe that teaching is a calling and not a profession - and Kathy McLean bears witness to this statement. She brings out the very best in every child she comes into contact with during the course of her teaching day - whether the child is in her class or in another.” Jan continued,  “She is a mentor to our younger teachers and she instills the same confidence in them as she does her students. Kathy is a teacher's teacher - born to teach and dedicated to the students that are fortunate enough to come under her expert tutelage. We at Trimble Elementary School PROUDLY nominate Kathy McLean as Teacher of the Week.”

Mrs. McLean is also the Site Director of the KEYS after school program, now in its third year at Trimble Elementary, and is a state-certified Common Core instructor. Additionally, Mrs. McLean has been the 4-H Leader of the Year for Dyer County for the past three years.

Each week during the Titans’ season, submissions are reviewed to find exceptional teachers. The winning teachers receive a $400 gift basket full of supplies for their classroom and two tickets to see a Tennessee Titans home game. A new winner is announced every Tennessee Titans game and at the end of the season a ‘Teacher of the Year’ is selected from the Teacher of the Week winners. This deserving teacher will receive an award, a gift basket of school supplies (worth approx. $800) and tickets to the December 28th game vs. the Indianapolis Colts.
