By: USGBC “The 2014 LEED Fellows are utilizing their extensive knowledge and experience in green building to engage their colleagues, clients and communities to create a better built environment throughout the world,” said Rick Fedrizzi, president, CEO and founding chair, USGBC. “We recognize Rob’s commitment to LEED and celebrate his individual achievements.” To be selected, LEED Fellows are nominated by their peers, undergo an extensive portfolio review, must have at least 10 years of experience in the green building industry and hold a LEED AP with specialty credential, among other requirements. The evaluation process is carried out by the LEED Fellow Evaluation Committee and supported by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI). Rob Hink, LEED AP, BD+C/OM/ND has been the Principal and Senior Vice President at The Spinnaker Group for 11 years; a firm that has been involved in the design of over 80 LEED certified projects and is currently involved in more than 250 LEED projects, both locally, nationally and internationally. The firm has also provided commissioning services on more than 500 million square feet of buildings. Rob is a Past President of the USGBC South Florida Chapter and has been involved with USGBC governance for more than 10 years. Rob has more than a decade of full-time green-design and commissioning experience, and more than 30 years’ experience in facilities management, project management and energy management, and control systems. After graduating from the US Naval Academy with a BS in Mechanical Engineering, Rob spent the first eight years of his professional career in the United States Navy nuclear power program serving in the submarine force and acquiring extensive experience in power generation, mechanical and electrical systems, and leadership expertise. After leaving the Navy, Rob taught HVAC and Electrical Theory at the collegiate level. The 2014 LEED Fellows will be recognized in New Orleans at the Greenbuild International Conference and Expo from Oct. 22-24, 2014.
