“The Splendor of Kashmir” by Varuna Anand

NEW DELHI - Dec. 4, 2014 - PRLog -- ‘The Splendor of Kashmir’ by Ms. Varuna Anand has been organizing Exhibitions in different parts of India of its exclusive range of Shawls from Kashmir. It is a humble endeavor initiated by Ms. Varuna Anand to encourage "The Art of shawl making from Kashmir.” In light of the recent devastating floods in Jammu and Kashmir, a part of the proceeds from the Exhibition will be donated to those connected with the victims of recent floods in J&K.

The Splendor of Kashmir aims to promote Design, Art and Humanitarianism. “We believe in giving back, and this is our humble way by giving a part of the proceeds as donation directly to all those connected with the creation of these masterpieces, empowering them to create yet another piece of art  and enabling you to help rebuild their lives ” says Ms. Varuna Anand, curator of the exhibition

The two day event showcasing the finest craftsmanship in Pashmina Shawls from Kashmir started on 4^th Dec.’14 at The Claridges Hotel, New Delhi from 11:30 AM – 7:00 PM. Being an awaited event among the distinguished gathering of art lovers and connoisseurs who wait for this event every year to add to their collection of heirlooms and masterpieces

The uniqueness of the event is the large variety of shawls each handcrafted to perfection. The Splendor of Kashmir’s collection of shawls includes the entire spectrum of shawls which Kashmir is known for. From the extensively embroidered Sui Kaam Jamavars in both Sozni and Paper Machie stitch to hand woven Jamavars called Kani Shawls.The exhibition also had a large variety of shawls from solid colors, to borders, reversible's. Making it both a visual treat and a complete stop for the entire range of the famed Kashmiri shawls.

The Kashmir shawl is characterized by the elaboration of its design, intricately woven or embroidered. These designs are stylized imitations of Nature, and the glowing brilliance, depth, and enduring qualities of its colors continues to mesmerize many lovers of these famed textiles, the world over.

On the occasion Ms. Varuna Anand, a crusader of hand woven art of Pashmina Shawls from J&K said, “Delhi NCR has a very passionate clientele when it comes to shopping specially an expensive product. My each piece is an exclusive in its way and is never repeated, it is like an artist, who never makes the same painting again.In the past, we have been exhibiting the same and have been successful with the exclusive wide range of The Splendor of Kashmir.”

The Splendor of Kashmir has been conceptualized to preserve the heritage of the age old art of Shawl making by master craftsmen of the state and giving back their due, which they so rightfully deserve.

Ms. Varuna Anand is a renowned Textile Designer, has spent many a year’s learning and designing Home Textiles and Sarees for the likes of House of Fraser, John Lewis, Galleries Lafayette Printemps, Laura Ashley, Tommy Hilfiger and Satya Paul.

The Splendor of Kashmir was conceptualized of her husband Mr. Parveen Anand, to promote the age old art of Shawl making and bridging the gap between the genuine up-market customer and the sincere weaver from the valley, which she is carrying forward.

Now being based in Jammu& Kashmir for twelve years, she considers herself lucky to use her expertise in the development and enhancement of heritage art of shawl making from Kashmir.

While, entry to the event is not by Invitation but being an exclusive one ‘The Splendor of Kashmir’ attracts only art lovers!
