PRLog -- FORT MYERS, Fla. - City of Palms Classic - Florida State commit, Malik Beasley continues to show why he is the top SG in the country. He is one of the few SG who not only, plays both ends of the court, but he rebounds as well. There are very few if any SG in the nation averaging a double-double. He currently averages 26pt and 11.5rb leading his highly touted St Francis team in ALL categories scoring, rebounding, blocks, and steals and is second on the team with 3.3 ast per game. He is a very efficient scorer and 92% free throw shooter. He frunstrated one of the nations top SG Antonio Blakeney all afternoon in St. Francis's win over Oak Ridge in the City of Palms Classic. Blakeney struggled to get his shot off shooting only 2 of 10 shots from the field in the first half before finishing the game with 6 of 16 shots from the field. Malik Beasley said "I wanted to sacrifice my offense a little to focus on shutting down Antonio. I knew if he got going, Oak Ridge would be tough to beat." Beasley still finished with a solid performance on the offensive end with 17pt and 8rb. Beasley opened the City of Palms Classic and led all scorers in the game with a 19pt and 8rb performance in a win over Florida Air. Malik is known for his ability to put up points and he did just that against the number one team in the country Montverde Academy. Beasley scored 25 points, including 17 in the second half, in the loss to Simmons and company. Beasley hit a clutch three late in the game, but they could not fend off Montverde. A talented scorer, Beasley can score it from all three levels and is better at slicing to the cup and finishing that has given credit for. It was an impressive performance in a big atmosphere. He impressed everyone who was in attendance including Kenny "The Jet" Smith who said that he has all the tools to be a pro.
What is lost in translation is Malik's work ethic and being on a team with other top ranked players on it and still being able to lead in almost every category. When asked what drives him, Malik said, "I work very hard because my family instilled in me a great work ethic and told me to love the process. So I love getting up doing three a days some days on school days and two a days most days. I just love getting better. I am working on being ready for the next challenge of playing in the ACC next year. I hope to accomplish some of my goals of being a McDonald's All-American, playing in the Jordan Classic, and hopefully playing for my country one day on the USA Team."
Well even if he doesn't accomplish these things..and I think he will..the future is very bright for Malik.
