Western Medical Center Administrator Named First Honoree of Fairhaven’s 4th Annual Care Awards

CORONA, Calif. - Jan. 27, 2015 - PRLog -- For many years, Theresa Jamieson wanted to follow in her mother’s footsteps by pursuing a career in nursing. After obtaining her Associate of Science in Human Biology from Santa Ana College, she began working as a medical assistant at Planned Parenthood during a time when HIV was a relatively new disease. Jamieson was responsible for educating patients about HIV, providing them with testing and guidance. It was there that she learned her true calling was education.

Jamieson is the January recipient of Fairhaven’s Oliver Halsell Care Award (http://www.fairhavenmemorial.com/community/oliver-halsell-care-award). Fairhaven Memorial Park & Mortuary, with locations in Santa Ana (http://www.fairhavenmemorial.com/) and Mission Viejo (http://www.fairhavenmemorialservices.com/), created the recognition program in 2012 to pay tribute to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional care in their profession and community, improving the lives and spirits of those they help.

“During her four decades in the care industry, Theresa has provided exceptional education and direction for her patients and staff,” said Marla Noel, president of Fairhaven. “Her positive attitude is an inspiring trait in her line of work – a characteristic we honor with the Oliver Halsell Care Award.”

Currently a staffing coordinator at Western Medical Center (http://www.westernmedicalcenter.com/) in Santa Ana, Jamieson wears many hats. In addition to assigning nurses to patients and ensuring quality care, she also helps educate nursing staff, acts as a liaison between floors, handles decedent affairs and assists patients and families with filling out necessary paperwork.

“Theresa is constantly going above and beyond her job duties,” said Sandra Moreno, Director of Nursing at Western Medical Center. “She’s always more than willing to help and does so with a kind and loving heart.”

Jamieson will be honored at Fairhaven’s Oliver Halsell Care Awards banquet in November at Fairhaven’s Mission Viejo location. The banquet honors a year’s worth of achievements within the local community. Additionally, Fairhaven will make a donation on her behalf to her selected charity, Alzheimer’s Association, Orange County (http://alz.org/oc) – in honor of Jamieson’s grandmother who passed away from the disease.
