By: Foci Minnesota Center for Glass Arts “As the only non-profit, public-access glass studio in the State of Minnesota, it’s important for Foci MCGA to find ways to get out into the community with events and educational programs introducing people to this mesmerizing art form. 2200° is our way of showcasing not only what the medium is capable of, but what’s possible when artists and designers from multiple art forms come together to create something entirely new. We think it’s going to be a great event; one that we look forward to hosting for years to come.” Christiana Kippels, Foci Board Member Local luminaries featured during the Fashion on Fire runway show will include Alexus Koch, Jahna Peloquin, Robyne Robinson, Sara Rogers, Kelly Miyamoto, Rachaelle Brady and Sheila Lenss; honoring these amazing women and their ongoing support of non-profit & arts organizations. Runway collections will be from local designers StevenBe, Raquel Redmond, Heavenly Weltanschauung and Anna Lee, Christiana Kippels, and Treat & Co. Boutiques Atmosfere and Restyle Minneapolis will also provide clothes from their stores for the event. Ensembles will be accessorized by hand blown glass pieces created by Foci MCGA member artists showcasing the possibilities, artistry and creativity of glass. The Fashion on Fire runway show will be mc’d by Shannan Paul. WarPaint International Beauty Agency will provide models’ makeup and Salon Sa Bel, Moxie, and Thomas Charles are creating the hair looks. Throughout the weekend live music will be provided by DJ Stevie Ray, Wenso Ashby & Zsame. Schedule of events: Friday, February 6, 7-9 pm - Meet & Greet party to fete designers, artists & luminaries Saturday, February 7, 7-9 pm - Fashion on Fire runway show Sunday, February 8, 1-4 pm - HauteShop exclusive sale offering glass art & fashion from 2200° including pop-up shops from boutiques Atmosfere and Restyle VIP tickets are $55, which get you admission to both Friday & Saturday night, or $25 admission to Saturday’s Fashion on Fire only. Sunday is a public event open to all. Member supported and staffed by member artists, Foci MCGA provides a space for artists, educators and the public to gather, learn and practice the ancient art of shaping molten glass. We provide hands-on glass experiences for individuals, couples and groups as well as narrated demonstrations of hot glass art. Artists use our facilities to create unique works that are displayed and sold in our gallery. The gallery and studio are free to visit and open to the public seven days a week, from 9am to 7pm. Foci MCGA provides opportunities for advanced learning through our glass education curriculum, where our expert instructors teach students an in wide range of styles and techniques.
