S P Jain Inaugurates The Region’s First Simulation Centre For Business & Executive Education

DUBAI, UAE - Jan. 29, 2015 - PRLog -- S P Jain School of Global Management (S P Jain) today inaugurated a state-of-the-art Simulation Centre for Business and Executive Education at its campus in the Dubai International Academic City. Through advanced multimedia programs that incorporate cutting-edge simulations, the centre is primed to help working professionals and executives come face-to-face with the decision-making challenges CEOs and business leaders come across today.

The Centre was officially inaugurated by Dr. Ayoub Kazim, Managing Director - Education Cluster - TECOM Investments, Dubai Knowledge Village (DKV) and Dubai International Academic City (DIAC). Dr Kazim congratulated S P Jain for its latest innovation and highlighted the importance of such innovations which will benefit corporates and academia. He stressed that such advancements allow for collaboration, for the betterment of the country. The event was attended by Senior HR Managers across industries.

Prof. Christopher Abraham, Head of S P Jain’s Dubai Campus welcomed delegates and opened the address by explaining that decision making is a complete process involving both rationale and emotional parts of the brain. He emphasized that the human brain can be trained to make better decisions through simulations. Dr. Balakrishna Grandhi, Dean of the Executive MBA program at S P Jain briefly discussed how simulations are extensively used in Executive Education and how they provide tangible benefits to businesses.

Elaborating on the phenomenal learning that is associated with this concept, Prof. Nitin Patwa, Director of Simulations at S P Jain said “simple training programmes are like a monologue where the participants take back some knowledge to the company and may or may not be able to apply it effectively. The simulated learning environment gives real life scenarios. Since it is decision making in a dynamic environment, it becomes a real-time application.”

Emphasising the importance of decision making in the 21^st century, Mr. Raveendra Rai, VP - HR for NMC Healthcare said, “Decision making has become much more complex in the 21^st century. Information overload and critical gaps in relevant information have affected the speed of effective decision making. There is little scope for gut-feel decision making process and managers today need effective scientific tools that will aid in arriving at the right decisions.”

Ms Hind Hamidi, Senior Manager - HR at Genpact was of the opinion that decision making is important across all levels of the organization although it is usually associated with top management. She opined that changes in the environment are taking place faster now so decisions have to be taken quickly. “Hence it is all the more important to understand how the simulation works and how decisions can be made effectively due to that” she said.

Mr Abdulla Al Balooshi, HR at Dubai Refreshments had a different perspective on it. “Decisions affect the future of the organization at a strategic level. From the HR perspective, recruiters have to decide to hire the right person for the right job – decision making is involved during the selection level. In HR one also has to decide when to hold trainings, and for the right target people. Decision making via simulation would be very interesting to learn.”
