ATLANTA - Jan. 29, 2015 - PRLog -- Love Remembers Day Organizers and Flowers for Anaphylaxis leadership, an all volunteer grassroots outreach effort offering condolences to families who have lost loved ones to food induced anaphylaxis announced today two awards will be given to individuals who work to educate communities about the severity of life threatening food allergies in hope of ending further tragedies.   Aleasa M Word, CLC, CEIC, founder of the program and an advocate/educator in the food allergy communities notes “With food allergies on the rise, more and more people like myself find themselves serving in roles as advocates, educators, support group leaders or work at national organizations trying to eradicate food allergies and control the incidence of anaphylaxis”.

The Legacy Award will be presented to a loved one of someone whose life was lost to food allergy induced anaphylaxis and continues to fight and educate others in their honor.  The Advocate Award will be presented to an advocate, leader or care giver who have gone above and beyond in the areas of education, outreach and advocacy in the food allergy community.    The awards will be part of multiple events taking place during the second annual WorldWide Love Remembers Day, set for the last weekend in March, 2015. Nominations for this award will be accepted from February 2nd - 28th, 2015 and the winners will be announced on March 27th, 2015.  Visit http://www.flowersforanaphylaxis.com to make nominations.

Ms. Word explains, “Many of us have family members who have life threatening food, medication and latex allergies (http://www.flowersforanaphylaxis.com/about.html).  Unfortunately some have so many allergies they live in a constant state of alert, always on watch (http://www.flowersforanaphylaxis.com/about.html) to protect the fragility of life.  No matter how cautious we are there are times situations when sometimes things simply happen”.  The goal of the Love Remembers Day is to never forget and to always honor those lost while supporting the work of families who have lost someone and advocates who strive to end     food allergy deaths that might have been preventable.

Over 15 million Americans face the daily task of managing life threatening food allergies.  An estimated 1 in 13 children under the age of eighteen battle this invisible and potentially deadly disease.  Food allergies are on the rise and no one knows why.  The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention state that in children this disease has grown approximately 50% between 1997 and 2011.

Ms. Word and The Love Remembers Day planning committee encourage everyone becoming involved and to nominate those within the food allergy community who have lost someone to a food allergic reaction and right on and those who make a difference in advocating for food allergy awareness and change in their community.
