BBC New Generation Artist Elena Urioste will join the orchestra for Beethoven’s Violin Concerto. Named one of the “Future Fifteen” by Latina Magazine, Ms. Urioste has been hailed by critics and audiences for her rich tone, nuanced lyricism, and commanding stage presence. Marsh U Nebuttya composed by Jonas Tarm, winner of a First Musiccommission from the NYYS, will receive its world premiere. NYYS’s First Music program has awarded over 130 commissions to emerging American composers since 1984. A total of seven commissions will receive their premieres in the 52nd season. The United Palace serves as a nondenominational church, theatre and cultural arts center located in Washington Heights of Manhattan. It opened in 1930 as the final of five Loew's Wonder Theatres and was designed in an eclectic mix of styles. NYYS is one of the most awarded youth program of its kind in the nation, recognized for its innovative, tuition-free educational programs for talented young musicians. Founded in 1963 as an orchestra to showcase the metropolitan area’s most gifted musicians ages 12-22, its activities have since grown to encompass programs in chamber music, conducting, composition, and jazz, with performances at world class venues including Carnegie Hall and Jazz at Lincoln Center.
