Perfect skelp edgesarealmost impossibleto obtainconsistentlyby trimming process, either by rotarysidetrimming single-width coils orsidetrimmingand slitting master coils. This client prepared the edge by taking a small amount of material off the unfinished edge face. Problems occur when the skelp edge encounters tool damage. This is slightly visible to the naked eye, and hard to detect. The issues this causes are gaps and pockets when the skelp edges are forged, increasing the risk of impurities. Radian.SE, is our baseline platform for skelp edge monitoring. Accurate skelp edge inspection can be carried out by a laser profile system using two sensors, one on each side of the flat material. Two data streams are made available for mathematical algorithms that detect the edge conditions. 2D and 3D imaging provide different types of information to the software, thus enabling robust detection using these two pieces of information. At the onset of a project, an important step with each client is to map what the client wants to detect that is impacting the quality of the weld. We then use this information to determine the best methods for modeling and detection. To view additional detail and video about our skelp edge system follow this link: http://www.invisuale.com/ End
