By: BTLB Our Black Family Magazine is a local magazine dedicated to unifying the Black community. The monthly periodical features news vital to the Black community, promotes local businesses, and advocates for important Black history and educational material for youth. Our Black Family Magazine is available on the website, www.ourblackfamily.com and locally at the Pan African Connection, Where Kidz Connect Daycare, Care Systems Computer Repair, Dock Bookshop, Iron Chef Catering, and Michelle's Homestyle Buffet. The Editor-in-Chief of Our Black Family Magazine is Quineka Ragsdale, historian and author of the Demarcus Jones children’s book series. Ragsdale hails from the local Oak Cliff, Dallas area and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism. Mr. Michael Guinn, poet extraordinaire, motivational speaker, and youth mentor, heads Mike Guinn Entertainment. The Urban Youth Specialist holds a Masters degree in Social Work and is one of the most sought after motivational speakers specializing in creative social awareness and human empowerment. He is the founder of the PSI Certified Fort Worth National Poetry Slams and the Forth Write National Youth Poetry Team in the DFW area. He is the co-founder of the National Poetry Awards and hosts three ongoing open mics for the past sixteen years. He has performed and been featured at venues in the US and internationally. Breaking the Line Books small press publishes a line of socially relevant literature created by National Bestselling Author of the Victoria's Journey series, A’Mera Frieman. Breaking the Line Books is dedicated to the promotion of multi-cultural, family friendly, and faith-based literary works, as well as, providing new and undiscovered writers guidance and direction in publishing. Frieman is also the Executive Director of the Stopping the Madness Antibullying Foundation and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Business. As a National Bestselling Author, Frieman has been a guest on numerous radio shows such as the Brad Davis Show, Word Up w/T-Nu, and Phil Hulett and Friends. Our Black Family Magazine, Mike Guinn Entertainment, and Breaking the Line Books united together to create a literacy movement to save the lives of countless families and youth who suffer from illiteracy. The talented trio’s mission focuses on community awareness and motivation, mentorship, and family.
