PITA partners with Workforce Development agencies to provide training and career services.
David Bruins, Education Manager states, "What we have found is that by offering more classes, it will allow us to help as many people as we can. Many individuals have said that certain days are better than others, for them. While it means we may have to rotate around classrooms for our current students, noone seems to mind too much! Most of our current students understand how tough it is out there and feel a sense of community in helping others find us and build their skills". Dave spends time out in the community at Job Fairs, and high schools and other events to help our Disabled and Unemployed, as well as Homeless Veterans. He is currently involved in the US Vets Stand Down Initiative, which will be held in March 18-20 at Cashman Center in Las Vegas. Hattie Colley, Career Services Specialist for LV-PITA has been working very hard to help the students obtain employment leads and internship programs. Hattie states, "Many of our students have so much potential and just need to be given the chance to show an employer what they have to offer. I feel it's my job to sell those students to the employer and then once given the chance to shine, the employer will want to hire them." Currently Hattie is working with many different employers for Medical, Accounting and Technical positions. Not only does she have the interns, but she has also helped others find employment just in the last two months! Hattie continues, "We are seeing a bit of a turn around in the job market and are hopeful that as the year moves into the summer months, we will continue to see improvement." If you or anyone you know is unemployed, laid off, disabled or a Veteran, please tell them about LV-PITA and the work they do. They are here to help the community and want to continue to be a resource for anyone who is struggling to find some skills to better their chances for employment. You can reach them by stopping by the facility at 4270 S Decatur, Ste B6 or call them at 702-853-7482. They are located in the Fountain View Business Park, at the corner of Decatur and Rochelle. End
