Cultural Art venues are prolific and vibrant with museums, galleries, weekend art shows and an abundance of music and theatre openings throughout the valley. The Celebration of Fine Art is an added attraction for the varied influx of homeowners, winter guests making must do destination while visiting Arizona. No wonder the Idaho 10 venture south to create and sell art. Meet the Idaho 10 Veteran Greg Sievers of Lewisville, returns for his 20th year, after selling oil paintings primarily in California. Greg enjoys the personal contact with the public, who offer ideas and helps shape his own artistic vision. Cambridge sculptor, Ken Newman travels over 30,000 miles a year to art shows across the country, he returns to Scottsdale for his 13th year. As a wood and bronze sculptor, Ken’s museum quality wood wildlife sculptures as well as bronze figurative and wildlife bronzes create a narrative that connects with art collectors. Ken is excited to bring his recent sculpture “Confluence of Blue” which captures community spirit through the metaphor of the Great Blue Herons. Sculptor JR Eason was born on a rural ranch in Idaho, it is her self-taught spirit that depicts a sense of Humanity in her bronze figurative sculptures that could not have been cultivated through formal education. Her works radiate with expressive gestures, contemplative faces, and expressions of “peace”. JR is considered a veteran of the show, she will be releasing new bronze vessels during her 12th year at the Celebration of Fine Art. Idaho metal artist Kyle Ashley recently built a studio/home in Almo, and heads south for his 10th year. Kyle says “Because it is too cold to go north, and where else can you create and sell among 99 of the best artists.” This year’s work is influenced by the stone sculptures on Easter Island, each are 8' tall and 300lbs. He is also working on several collaborations with other artists for the shows one acre sculpture garden. Jeweler Donna Armstrong of McCall is returning for her seventh year. The Sonoran Desert has a distinctive natural beauty, the sunrises and sunsets across the stark desert never cease to inspire and amaze its viewers. For Donna, “It’s the colors, the textures; something that I feel as well as see. I want to create something worthy of my surroundings.” Painter, Matt Sievers ran his father’s Greg Sievers gallery in Scottsdale for several years, until he was juried into the Celebration of Fine Art. For the past six winters, he heads south from Rigby, to again enjoy the amazing winter weather, create and sell art in the incredible atmosphere of the Celebration of Fine Art. Donna Bernstein is participating in her 5th year, with new acrylic work that captures a deeper expression of the subtlety and nuance of the horse’s ability to communicate to everyone. Donna says that “the Celebration of Fine Art distinguishes itself by creating an atmosphere in which artists are comfortable creating, and visitors are welcomed into that process. It’s an event that is capable of expanding everyone’s artistic horizons. I fly south for a number of great reasons: a - it is warmer; b - it is warmer than Idaho; c - all the art collectors are there and: d - the weather is warm and wonderful so join us!” Ceramic and bronze artist Dave LaMure, believes that his migration may be genetically programmed from long-ago ancestors, a sense of longing to head towards Orion and warmer climates from his 25 acre southern Idaho home. After three years of migrating south, he believes he might be following the same path of creating a trail of art along the way. By working among 100 artists, I'm able to define, sharpen and challenge myself to make sense of my inspiration to create art through storytelling. Maia Leisz heads south from Salge in Northern Idaho with a limited pallet in her head. Although she has mastered the landscapes of the Northwest, returning for her third year Maia continues to internalize the beauty of the Southwest, allowing the beauty to flow into her paintings. Maia believes “The Celebration is like no other show. I love meeting my collectors, the Celebration allows you to build relationships with them, as well as with your fellow artists. It leaves you richer in so many ways.” As one of the newest artisan’s at the 25th Annual Celebration of fine Art, Jenny Hill of Emmett, Idaho, is really excited for the opportunity to showcase her work among other accomplished artists. Her one of a kind hand felted wearable art features rich and bold textures and are made of wool and silk. Jenny shares “It will also be exciting to show my work with a new geographic audience, since I typically showcase my work in the Northeast and Midwest. The warmer weather is also a huge bonus.” For those seeking the warmth of the desert during the long Idaho winter - visit each of these Idaho artist's studios in Scottsdale, Arizona.
