2nd Annual Bake Sale to Support Bella's Battalion Planned for March 28 in Timonium

TIMONIUM, Md. - March 19, 2015 - PRLog -- Lily Cavallaro, 14, whose younger sister Bella suffers from Type 1 diabetes, has organized her second annual bake sale for Saturday, March 28, starting at 9 a.m., to raise funds for Bella’s Battalion.

“We did so well with last year’s sale, I wanted to do it again to raise even more money to help my sister and all the other people who suffer from Type 1 diabetes,” Lily said. “So come on out on my 15^th birthday and buy something to eat or just make a donation so we can help find a cure for diabetes.”

The bake sale, featuring a wide range of healthy and other baked goods, will be held outside J & J Alterations & Cleaning at 2434 Broad Ave. in the Broad Street Market Center, just off West Padonia Road, near I-83.

Since 2010, Bella’s Battalion (http://greatercp.jdrf.org/blog/bella-and-the-cavallaro-family/ ) has raised more than $150,000 to support the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Money raised from Lily’s bake sale will be donated to Bella’s Battalion, whose more than 150 volunteers will participate in the annual JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes, scheduled for April 18, at M & T Bank Stadium in Baltimore. Bella’s Battalion has been the largest group to participate in the walk in 2012, 2013 and 2014.

Family members and friends will donate the baked goods being sold.

Bella’s Battalion is named in honor of Bella Cavallaro, 12, who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in November 2009. The daughter of Angela and Mark Cavallaro of Phoenix, Md., Bella is a sixth grader at Hereford Middle School and Lily is a freshman at Hereford High School.
