Follow on Google News | North East businessman receives global awardA North East charity has benefited from a substantial donation - thanks to Ford Motor Company and a philanthropic local businessman winning a global award.
By: Jennings Ford As part of the award, which is in recognition of exhibiting unparalleled giving, dedication and leadership in the community, Ford Motor Company provides a total of $60,000 - $10,000 for each honouree – which is given to a charity the dealer supports. The award has been presented to Mr Khan in recognition of his efforts and contributions to the local community, in addition to the on-going time he devotes to raising funds for The Emaan Foundation. The foundation is a registered charity set up by the kindhearted MD, which has funded the construction of a new village in Rahim Yar Khan, Pakistan, following the devastating floods in 2010. A new appeal has recently been launched to help fund a health centre in the village. Nas was presented with a cheque for the sum of $10,000, the equivalent of £6,754 for his charity, The Emaan Foundation, by Bernard Silverstone, Chairman and CEO of Ford Motor Credit Company, who visited the Jennings Ford dealership in Middlesbrough, Teesside, for the presentation. Nas Khan, managing director of Jennings Motor Group, said; “I am absolutely honoured and delighted to win such a prestigious award from Ford Motor Company and to also welcome the Chairman and CEO of Ford Motor Credit Company, Bernard Silverstone, to our dealership in Middlesbrough.” In addition to receiving a cheque for The Emaan Foundation, Nas also received a commissioned watercolour collage representing his involvement in the variety of causes he supports, a copy of which will be on display at Ford Motor Company’s World Headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan, for the next two years. Over the years, Jennings Ford has supported the local community with generous donations and support in a variety of projects. For the past 16 consecutive years, The Salvation Army’s annual Christmas Appeal has benefited by using the company’s network of Ford dealerships across the North East region as drop-off and collection points for gift donations. To kick-start last year’s appeal, Jennings Ford also donated £1,000 worth of gifts, in addition to donating the use of a Ford Transit van to the charity’s Southwick Community Project in Sunderland, for the duration of the Appeal. This year will see another local charity, selected by Nas, that will not only benefit from a substantial donation as Jennings Motor Group’s chosen charity for 2015, but also continued support throughout the remainder of the year.
