Follow on Google News | Famous Artists Let their Talents Talents Take Flight! The Bamachol Dance Academy of the Michael-Ann Russell Jewish Community Center in North Miami Beach, in collaboration with dancers from across the world, will be presenting a one-of-a-kind performance, "Butterflies No Longer Live Here."
By: Michael-Ann Russell JCC “The Butterfly Project” was originally created in 2006 to memorialize the 1.5 million children who were killed in the Holocaust, and to honor the survivors. This current adaptation of the project that will coincide with the show, will include a select group of nationally, and internationally recognized and collected artists from around the world, who will each be creating a one-of-a-kind piece of art from mediums of their choosing. “The idea behind this project is to explore the butterfly as a metaphor for our human spirit, that is eternally seeking hope and freedom,” explains Roger Weiger, Director of the MAR-JCC’s Bamachol Dance Academy. Works will be donated, submitted for viewing, and up for silent auction by world-renowned artists such as Romero Britto, David Gerstein, Andrea Waksol, Jose Margulies, Sandy Glass, Patty Zrihen, Zion Ozeri, Pepe Mar, Nataly Nessim, Laura Zion, Beatriz Aizenstat, Vivien Ressler, Sandra Ressler, Anat Garzon, Skott Marsi, and Liora G. Davis. The artwork will be displayed for the two days of the “Butterflies No Longer Live Here” show, which will feature 8 professional dancers, plus over 70 local dancers who auditioned for the production’s choreographer, Fernando Hurtado. The performance was inspired by the famous poem “The Last Butterfly,” by Pavel Friedman. The Julius Littman Theater for the Performing Arts is located at 17011 NE 19th Avenue, North Miami Beach, FL 33162.
