Nu Flow Promotes Awareness During Drinking Water Week

May 7, 2015 - PRLog -- Nu Flow Technologies Inc., a world-leading pipe lining manufacturer, installer and distributor is taking part in The American Water Works Association’s (AWWA) Drinking Water Week to educate the public on the issue of lead in water and the technology available to stop contamination.

“Corrosion of lead plumbing and fixtures is the main driver for lead contamination in drinking water,” said Nu Flow CEO Cameron Manners. “All water is corrosive to metal, which is why we are encouraging property owners and managers to test their water this week and act appropriately.”

Congress passed the Safe Drinking Water Act in 1974, which requires EPA to determine safe levels of chemicals in drinking water that cause health problems.

Nu Flow’s Nu Line Epoxy Barrier Coating System is a non-invasive solution that creates a barrier between the existing pipe and water flowing through it.

In order to bring water back to safe levels, the pipe system is first drained, inspected and cleaned before a two-part red epoxy is uniformly distributed through the pipes by air to coat the inner walls and protect water against lead and other contaminates from entering into the stream.

The potable epoxies are UL certified safe for drinking water and are most commonly used to coat domestic water systems. Other certifications include, Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. approval to NSF/ANSI Standard 61 for safe use in drinking water pipes, IAPMO Guide Criteria 189, IAPMO-listed, as compliant with IPC and UPC, ASTM, ASCE, ICC-ES PMG-1020 and UL Compliant for 2014 Low Lead Safe Water Drinking Act - ANSI/NSF 372.

While the system protects from lead and other contaminates leaching from piping into water, it also protects against leaks.
