Dallas based brass ensemble Imperial Brass recently announced they were happy to perform at the ceremony that featured, as keynote speaker former President George W. Bush. Guests couldn't have enjoyed it more. - May 19, 2015 Few universities have as illustrious a history as Southern Methodist University, so when it came time for their 100th Commencement Convocation on May 16th, a very large celebration was certainly expected. The university and its supporters didn't disappoint, with former President George W. Bush coming to SMU and acting as keynote speaker. Acclaimed Dallas based brass ensemble Imperial Brass (http://imperialbrass.com/) “We were truly blessed to be able to perform a this historical 100th Commencement Convocation, which featured former President George W. Bush,” commented Susan Frazier, Principal French Horn of Imperial Brass. “We are honored to have been chosen to participate with the graduation ceremonies of this wonderful university, Southern Methodist University (SMU) and would also like to congratulate the 2000 students who received their degrees and wish them tremendous success as they enter their careers of choice. ” Frazier herself, a key band member of Imperial Brass, received her Master's Degree in Horn Performance at SMU, showing an example of the deep connection Imperial Brass feels with the university. The ensemble is well known in the Dallas/Fort Worth area for featuring some of the region's most talented brass musicians. All together Imperial Brass has five core members and 13 auxiliary members combining to form their large group.
