Follow on Google News | Road Test: 2015 Ford Mustang EcoBoost ConvertibleDrop-top fun in the sun with Ford’s latest and greatest Mustang
By: StangBangers.com Our Ruby Red 2015 Ford Mustang Convertible with Ebony leather interior was powered by the 2.3L EcoBoost (turbo) engine via a smooth-shifting 6-speed manual transmission. It had the Premium Package, so the standard equipment list was stout. Ours also included the Shaker Pro 12-speaker Audio System, 20-inch wheels with Pirelli tires, Voice-Activated Navigation System, and more. The all-new 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine leverages turbocharging, direct injection and twin independent variable camshaft timing to deliver 310 horsepower and 320 lb. of torque. As good as the newest Mustang looks on paper or virtually, it looks that much better when you’re seeing the real thing. Even though totally redesigned for 2015, you immediately know it’s a Mustang. Some key design features define the all-new Mustang, including: - Lower, wider stance with a reduction in roof height; wider rear fenders and track - Three-dimensional, tri-bar tail lamps with sequential turn signals - Contemporary execution of the signature shark-bite front fascia and trapezoidal grille Driving Impressions The EcoBoost Mustang is more a smooth, refined cruiser than it is a muscle car. It’s fast, but there is little to no sound from the exhaust making it to your ears. That said, you gotta love the turbo “whoosh” sound coming from the engine, which is very addictive, and makes it hard to match the window MPG sticker. If you like it faster or louder, there are already lots of performance parts available, with many more to come. If you plan on driving with the top up a lot, then consider the fastback model instead, because (as with most if not all convertibles) Find yourself a twisty road, and you really appreciate the work that went into the suspension. Handling is tight, courtesy of a new fully independent suspension and big 20-inch wheels wrapped in summer tires. Steering is precise, and the brakes halt the car with little effort and much urgency. In our travels, a guy in an expensive new Audi went out of his way to tell us that the car looked amazing and very “Aston Marton-ish”. Countless others let us slide into traffic in front of them, even when they clearly had the right-of-way. Fifty years of Mustang Evolution will earn you that kind of r-e-s-p-e-c- Click here to see more pics: http://www.stangbangers.com/ End
