Russell IPM showcase biorational solutions at Fruit Focus 2015

DEESIDE, Wales - July 30, 2015 - PRLog -- The Fruit Focus event held at the East Malling Research Centre on July 22^nd has reported record numbers of visitors from across the UK and beyond for its 2015 exhibition. Around 1,300 visitors attended on what was a beautiful sunny day in Kent, which many describe as the Garden of England. It was Russell IPM Ltd’s first visit and we were extremely pleased with the outcome of the day.

With home grown British produce becoming ever more popular with the UK public, fruit production must take on new techniques to ensure output and quality remain viable. The Fruit Focus event allows growers to stay in touch with the leaps and bounds that agricultural companies, such as Russell IPM, are making to keep their farms and businesses competitive and successful.

During the show, Dr Nayem Hassan and Dr Clare Sampson showcased Russell’s unique products for monitoring Thrips and Whitefly, including Optiroll Super Yellow and Impact sticky boards. These traps have been developed in ‘optimum’ colours in a specific wave length to maximise insect pest attraction.

Furthermore, many local growers were interested in the Pheroguard range of monitoring systems. With Russell IPM providing over 150 pheromone lures to attract insects of economic importance, growers were spoilt for choice.

The Spotted Wing Drosophila (SWD) lure offered by Russell IPM was another popular attractant due to the current issue with this pest in soft and stone fruit orchards.  Other SWD lures on the market require liquid in large volumes. Russell IPM however, has devised a solid SWD lure to remove the mess and enable simpler monitoring, as the lure sachet can be easily attached to sticky boards, rolls or McPhail traps without the risk of leakage or spillage.
