Follow on Google News | Lifelong video gamer aims to be advocate for the gaming worldPatrick Scott Patterson rolls out new branding term for his continuing mission
By: PatrickScottPatterson.com Veteran video gamer Patrick Scott Patterson rolled out the term Video Game Advocate as part of his website relaunch today, August 14. The 39-year-old media personality says he feels the term better defines his long-time work in the video game culture and industry. "I wish I'd used that term all along," he said. "It sounds less self-serving for sure. Yeah, this is how I make my living but I'm just the vehicle to support the bigger picture and help the world see video game culture and history in the correct light." Also as part of site relaunch, Patterson has put his newest project center stage, a Video Game Media Archive aiming to preserve physical media from the past of video gaming such as magazines, books and promotional materials. "The history of our culture isn't defined in the modern day. It was recorded as it grew and evolved," Patterson said. "In time, I hope the Archive will stand as a reference point for anyone wanting to research the history of our industry, ranging from the development and reception of key game titles to where and how the eSports industry grew into what it's becoming today." Patterson's support of charities such as Operation Supply Drop and Connor's Cure are also taking center stage on his newly designed website. He says this also clarifies his longtime mission. "This goes beyond preserving my own backstory and career goals," he added. "If I'm not using my platform to benefit causes greater than myself then I'm not using it right. I hope the new interface can go a long way in calling more attention to these and other great causes." Also included are links to Patterson's present content platforms, videos of his appearances in various television news media and links for more information on his appearances in video game documentary films such as Nintendo Quest and World 1-1.
