FERNDALE, Mich. - Aug. 15, 2015 - PRLog -- Mary McGuire’s latest CD, “Love Struck” pulls together her life experiences – traveling the world, playing in different bands, meeting interesting people – and brings the listener along on an acoustic journey years in the making. While the record is a collection of songs written over time, it has a consistent, connected feel – firmly grounded in the musical heritage of the Motor City.

On Saturday, September 12, 2015, Mary will host a CD Release Party at Dino’s in Ferndale. Joining her on stage will be the musicians who helped write, record and produce “Love Struck” which is released on the Indie label, Black Horse Records. Long-time friends and bandmates Erik Gustafson and Gary Rasmussen were both in the studio for all the tracks. Mary chose to bring a true Detroit feel to this project and enlisted Chuck Alkazian at Pearl Sound Studios to produce, record, mix and master the new CD. Chuck is well known in the music industry and brought his years of experience to arranging and performing on many of the tracks.

Another integral piece of the puzzle was the addition of Johnny Bee Badanjek’s “Song Without Words.” Bee wrote the song and Mary was immediately drawn to it so she asked if she could record it. He said yes and even agreed to play on the track. Well known in the Detroit music scene for playing with the Howling Diablos, The Rockets and Mitch Ryder, Johnny Bee will bring even more Detroit Rock City history to an already stellar line-up of musicians at the show; including Erik Gustafson, Gary Rasmussen, Barbara Payton, Johnny Evans, Beth Wilusz, Ken Mitchell, Carolyn Striho, Nino Dmytryszyn and Johnny Bee Badanjek. Opening the show is upcoming singer/songwriter Elizsa Lovins-Wilusz and Detroit's legendary bluesman/songwriter/producer Tino Gross of the Howling Diablos and Funky D Records.. “Love Struck” illustrates the power of musical talent and collaboration in Detroit.
